About When Sara Smiles
The mission of the "When Sara Smiles" program is to implement innovative instructional tutorials for teacher candidates to use while working with diverse and underserved elementary school students to develop their reading and writing skills.
The WSS program will continue Sara's work, using the methodologies that she helped develop, in programs that place teacher candidates from college education programs out into the local school systems. Ideally many more educators who have worked with Sara along the way will join in to forward her legacy. The Sara B. McCraw Memorial Reading Fund also supports students at East Carolina University and the University of Delaware through grants made to programs at each school.
We are part of the Greater Greenville Community Foundation and as such all donations to our fund are tax deductible.
